on
Women's
Facility
The
idea to
develop
a
treatment
center
as well
as the
treatment
model,
Recovery
Dynamics,
began
over
thirty-two
years
ago when
I saw
the
significant
need the
community
had for
a
treatment
center
designed
specifically
to treat
the
disease
of
alcoholism
and drug
addiction.
The
results
since
then
have
been
astonishing.

I well
remember
the day
I
entered
the
first
building
we
rented
on 10th
and
Gaines
Streets
in
Little
Rock,
Arkansas,
having
only
$300.00,
and
great
deal of
generous
hard
work
from
others.
As I
entered
the
empty
building
there
was
nothing
remaining
there
except a
little
plaque
on the
wall
with the
inscription,
“We are
born for
one
purpose…to
help one
another.”
The
quote
was from
Tolstoy
and to
this day
I have
taken
this to
heart
and made
this my
sole
mission.
I have
never
been
here for
profit
and if I
felt we
were no
longer
helping
others I
would
move on
where I
could be
of such
assistance.
Serenity
House,
Inc.
d/b/a,
Serenity
Park,
our
treatment
facility,
was
first
incorporated
and
opened
in March
1972. We
have
been
successful,
despite
limited
funding,
in
treating
over 30,
000
individuals
from all
over the
world
and have
been of
support
to a
multitude
of
families,
other
agencies,
employers,
and
therefore
have
been a
major
asset to
the
community
as well.
Serenity
Park has
recently
been
rated as
one of
the top
ranked
treatment
facilities
in the
country
and we
strongly
believe
we are
number
one due
to our
successful
treatment
outcome.
The one
guarantee
we can
make to
the
individual
receiving
treatment
is they
never
have to
abuse
substances
again
provided
they are
willing
to put
into
practice
the
principles
we teach
them.
As my
journey
continues,
I am
compelled
to focus
my
efforts
toward
completing
the
vision I
always
had for
Serenity
House,
Inc.,
and
preserving
it
through
an
endowment
fund.
The
vision I
have
will
have
been
completed
with the
construction
and
actual
implementation
of an
all
women’s
treatment
facility
on the
grounds
of
Serenity
Park.
The
disease
of
addiction
is
growing
at an
alarming
rate in
the
female
population
and
continues
to be
overlooked
in many
cases by
society.
Women
have
always
been the
nucleus
of the
family
and
community
and the
disease
of
addiction
adversely
affects
the
lives of
the
family,
and
especially
those of
the
children.
Children
are
being
raised
in the
middle
of the
disease
process.
It
becomes
a way of
life for
them and
they
know no
other
way than
a future
filled
with
alcohol
and
drugs.
It is
our
desire
to be a
part of
the
solution
to this
problem
by
providing
a
separate
full-service
residential
facility
for
women. I
have
always
maintained
the
philosophy
of
separation
for
treatment
of women
and men
as this
has been
proven
to be
the most
effective
treatment
environment,
allowing
people
to focus
solely
on their
recovery
goals
without
distractions.
All of
us at
Serenity
Park
wish to
welcome
you as a
partner
in this
venture
of
recovery
for
women,
helping
women to
once
again
become
the
productive
people
they
were
always
capable
of being
and,
just as
important,
contributing
to their
families
and to
society
the
experience
and gift
of
recovery.
After
all, “We
are born
for one
purpose…to
help one
another.”
Yours In
Service,
Joe
McQuany
